Racism is everywhere i've ever lived and everywhere i've ever been to...everywhere you go there is someone who is being discriminated against and bullied somehow.
In schools, teachers were often violent towards the children...slapping or paddling even punching them, and they turned a blind eye to having witnessed someone who was obviously being bullied.
School officials shrugged me off when I came into the office and laid a huge clump of hair on the counter after someone had thrown me down two flights of stairs by grabbing my hair and tossing me down...even then I was sent back to class.
School counselors efforts were lame to help, no one called my parents for additional support.
For having somewhat darker skin (i'm half Mexican) than the average child I was bullied in many Minnesota schools right up until I graduated.
Children can be cruel just as adults can be cruel...this is the sad reality.
The best thing we can do is try not to let it eat us up, force us into a bubble...we must keep our hearts open and do what we can to show positivity toward others and support it's victims. There are bad people everywhere, many of whom hide it much better than others...nevertheless we must hope there is hope for them.
Heal the world.
