I need to get my birth certificate legalized. I had the following queries:
1. Since I have recently issued my birth certificate, do I need to notarize it? (It is original).
2. Also, what are the timings for the attestion in the Home Dept of the Mantralay in Mumbai?
Also, who in the Home Dept is supposed to attest the birth certificate?
If anyone knows these details, please let me know.
Thanks in advance.
You will have to get your birth certificate notazired. I am assuming that you were born in Maharashtra.
If yes then after getting the Birth Certificate issued you need to get it notarized.
For that go to Mumbai High Court you will find couple of notaries there.
They charge around Rs. 100 per document.
After getting it notarised you will need to go to Mantralaya, Mumbai.
Go to the Administrative Building - 9th Floor.
The timings are 2.00 pm onwards.
They will stamp your birth certificate there.
Just carry your PAN Card though they dont ask for any ID proof usually.
Dont pay any of the touts as its a very simple process and hardly takes anytime. Only you will have to wait in the queue for your turn :-).
