I have had many backpacking trips around Europe and out of Europe. I have never been to Switzerland though. One of the best backpacking trip of mine was to Italy. I love Italian architecture! As for trekking, I think you should go to Tanzania, Kilimanjaro! As for travel insurance policy, it depends on what you decide either go backpacking, or do trekking because you need different covers for them if you want to save and not to pay extra money. I know that for trekking you need some extra cover for different altitudes. As for me I have bought single trip for all my backpacking trips.

I haven't done trekking, my friends have done though:) They bought Globetrekkers standard policies as they needed to cover for trekking to altitude of up to 5800 metres. And I am thinking of doing this kind of activity with my family as well. :)
