  Hi,
  
  I've been living and working in Barcelona for 5 months now. Despite there being quite an active social scene in Barcelona, I've found it quite difficult to make new friends - particularly with guys! I've even tried online dating with Meetic, but have had some awful experiences with guys to be honest! I never had any problems in the UK! My Spanish is still not too good (which doesn't help matters I know!) so I was wondering if anyone knew of any good clubs for international people here in Barcelona. I have tried an English-speaking group, but found that there were never many people at their meetings, and most of them were a lot older than me (I'm 29).
  
  Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!

  Hi there Belinda and welcome to Barcelona! I'm from the UK too and have been in Barcelona for just over 2 years now. I had exactly the same experience as you when I first came here. It takes much more time than you think to settle in! Infact, it was precisely that which inspired me to set up my own company here - DateClub - which has now been going for just over a year.
  
  Briefly what we do is organise events for single people in Barcelona - speed dating, dinners, catamaran cruises, parties and more. It has been very successful so far and I know of lots of couples who have got together after meeting at one of our events. It's also a great way to make new friends with both guys and girls - it's not necessarily just about 'dating!

  I am 35 kiwi bloke, I have been abroad for 10 years now, moving to Barcelona jan 2007 would like to meet up with other expats, would appreciate any advise on Barcelona.
