  Just a wee rant, because there's dickety doo-doo I can do about it I'm supposing.
  
  We rented a UPC digital box a couple of weeks ago...the recordable one. We were recently Ziggo customers, but didn't have a recordable Ziggo box, just the normal one, so are getting used to a few things that are different about each cable provider and service. For example, we lost BBC Prime (no big loss), but also lost all access to BBC radio too. Ziggo offers BBC 1 through 4 radio, but UPC doesn't. Sad, but not much one can do.
  
  There are other differences too, but because it's two different kinds of boxes, we get into comparing apples and oranges.
  
  But I have one major issue; which was starting to annoy me a few months ago, but with the recordable box, it really ticking me off. No problem recording most stations. The beginning and end times for most stations? Totally on the button.
  
  But Net5??
  
  First of all, there are no accurate TV listings for that station. Anywhere. I "think" the VPRO Gids is the most accurate so far, but it's different than the Totaal TV listing which is also different from the UPC menu listing!!
  
  But what really boils my bunnies is that Net5 can't tell time. At all. Why it doesn't have "ish" beside each program time in the VPRO Gids is beyond me because at least it would be more accurate!! Shows can start up to 10 minutes late...or an hour early...or disappear totally...whatever. Meh.
  
  The Dutchie has developed a Criminal Intent addiction lately, but last night, they decided to switch it with Smallville, which was apparently news to UPC. We've tried all week to record it and watch when we're half-assed awake, but missed the beginning most of the time we tried.
  
  It's gotten to the point where it's pretty well impossible to set any program to record on Net5. I suspect they don't give a crap and hope that your life is so pitiful that all you'll do is sit there night after night watching the detectives and ads for Name Your Baby ringtones and the Jillz boys being "fresh" over and over again and never have to record a thing...
  
  And NO, I'm not getting a Sky dish. I wish. But not until I'm employed again, so don't even go there...

  CW, you just said it yourself: they don't give a crap about the comfort of the telly viewer.
  I'm glad not to be an addict of one of the well known series. And as far as the films are concerned, most of the time they are mediocre so I skip those as well. And the good ones I've already seen!

  I'm the same as you regarding the movies. It's just that Net5 usually has the best brain candy at night when you're tired and just want to veg out. (with the exception of House on SBS6)

  I am still with ziggo. But mainly for ESPNAmerica and Hockey Night in Canada. Way to go Pittsburgh Penguins. Long time fan here.
  
  Back to topic - I ma hooked on Law and Order, CSI, etc. The other sat provider has few if any problems in this area.
  
  I know, I know. JOB! And Sky costs money. But not always. Look at the free to view channels.

  But you have Ziggo and a Sky box? I didn't know that was possible. We would want to keep our Dutch stations...

  Sure. Ziggo is via cable. And the Sky is via a dish. Both connect via a SCART connector. If the TV does not have 2 input, you can buy a 3 input SCART switcher for less than 20 e.
  
  I love the American crime shows. My partner is hooked on British comedy.
  
  If and when you go with a pay package at SKY, avoid the movies. Just not worth it. But you do not need a pay package to get the free channels.
  
  Contact Andy. Nice guy. Easy install and new box.
  
  Or DIY. Sky box on marktplaats under sky digital box satellite .

  Brill. Our household pretty well watches the same stuff too...
  
  We have a new flat being built which should be ready by next year so that will be on our shopping list!
