This interesting campaign has not just started but is going on for months already. From the first moment I mentally changed their motto "Onbewust Asociaal" (= Unwittingly Asocial) in "Bewust Asociaal" (= Consciously Asocial) because IMHO the Dutch very well know themselves how badly they behave. They are not ignorant. They just don't give a damn! angry.gif
A typical example is that schoolgirl sitting in the bus: she looks at a standing OAP and does not offer her seat. I ask her to stand up for the elderly lady and she refuses! Good gracious me, if it was my child I might have slapped her in her face! angry.gif

We are all selfish, the product of the 21st century.

in the topic Purchasing an iPhone / T-mobile in the forum Discuss Dutch Culture
....I was going to write some stuff about the Dutch wedding I attended Friday but found enough relief in the expatica-archives to read. I am heading off to Portugal tomorrow to reset myself...

Two weeks ago I decided to purchase the new iPhone 3GS, only sold at T-mobile. My current Vodafone contract expired last year so ending this contract and getting the i150 T-mobile contract shouldn't be a problem, I thought.

The T-mobile shop assistant needed some ID (must be a passport), a bank statement and my Vodafone simcard. So I showed him everything included my British passport: "Oh, maar dat had ik niet verwacht. Ik mag jou geen abonnement verschaffen. Britse paspoorten zijn fraude-gevoelig en moeten gecontroleerd worden.". He couldn't help me because I have a British passport.

After contacting the T-mobile shop again last week, it seems they are not bothered selling me the contract.

I will have another go when I get back from a well earned holiday.

    a healthy, fibrous turd.

So a solid fibrous turd will float on melted fibrous turd?

    Have you tried this experimentally?

in the topic Renewing a British passport in France in the forum English in the Netherlands

    Hello Folks,

Has anyone renewed their British passport from Holland in France?
I'm having problems with the new payment fees. I for one do not want to send my credit card details in the post so thought I could use the option postal order.
The dutch post (TNT Post office) tells me that there is no such thing as a postal order in Holland. My husband who is dutch has phoned TNT post and they have confirmed that they do not do this Postal order. I have phoned myself and have been told the same story it can't be done!

Can anyone pls tell me if they have renewed their passport how they made the payment?

    Kindest Regards,
    Sandra

I have been reading this topic and I can not say I was not worried at all; sending all my paperwork to Paris including my credit card details....... sad.gif

    Well I did it!!

I posted the C1 form, birth certificate, old passport and the credit card details at the local post office: "aangetekend/prioriteit", March 19th 2009.

I received the pink "bericht van ontvangst" March 25th.

This week (April 3rd) TNT Express came to my door with the big brown envelope containing a brand new British Passport.

    Well, there you go! biggrin.gif
