30% ruling: there is no such 5 years limit
    Hi all,
A lot of buzz was created that if someone is enjoying the 30% ruling, he/she would be re-evaluated at the time he/she hits the 5 years after-the-first-day-he/she-started-receiving-the-30%-ruling.
I phone Belastingdienst today, and a colleague of mine who has passed the 5-years, we both phoned Belastingdienst, and heard that THEY DON'T KNOW ABOUT THIS 5 YEARS.
So i'm happy to inform you that this 5 years was cancelled, or is created by the tax specialist to make you worry and come to them paying consultant fee....  more

I heard that many Dutch women work 50-80%, and some of my male colleagues work 32-36 hours.

Other than the question of balancing work/life, i'm curious if there are some financial reasons that I don't know. Is that true that because of the high tax, then working more doesn't bring more money home ?

    Background info:

*** Total income of my family is 97K, taxble income is between the range of 67K to 79K (depending on our 30% ruling application this year). I don't know how much net we would receive.
*** If we send the 1-year-old kid all five days to the daycare, the cost would be 1100-1400 Euro/month.
*** This table https://zoek.officielebekendmakingen.nl/blg-117877.pdf says that we can only deduct 20-50% from the Kinderopvang kost.

On one side, I guess that when the agency earns 25% the bruto, it's part of their incentive to raise your expected salary.
However, if agency can sell a job seeker quickly, it's quick money to be earned. Therefore the agency can shake hand with the job provider to lower the salary, and lure the job seeker into believing that that salary is the best he could get.
If you don't trust your agency, how do you negotiate salary with the company ?  less

30% seems not relate much to KM. A bigger company can apply for your KM easier, I guess, but 30% many small companies can do it.
My former and current employers all succeeded in applying 30% for me. Both are less than 50 employees.

I'm working in IT. I'm thinking about changing job, but don't want my boss to know it.

Anytime I update my CV on monsterboard or nationalvacatures, there are hundreds of agencies call me to send them the updated CV in word, in which they want to know where I work.

Is it harmful to send them the full details, with my current company's name ?
Why do they need every (working) details of me ?

He suspect something in the brain of my mother, since the latest MRI shows a small white spot in her brain. It is this white spot which might cause something abnormal in the right part of her face.
It is not V-nerve neuritis/neuralgia, he said.

But, on another side, I seem to understand why it's hard to give a statement about neurology. I think this field is still in a kind of medieval era of science, and it's hard to give a conclusion even in a scientific paper.

My mother, on a tourism visa to NL, needs to check a more and more severe neurological issue. We have gone to Ziekenhuis Gelderse Vallei in Ede, made a MRI scan. Then she would be probably transfered to Universitair Medisch Centrum Utrecht www.umcutrecht.nl.
The thing is: all these are SLOW, with weeks between each communication. We have been waiting 40 days just for some initial MRI scanning. And she has only 35 days left for her visa.

Staying longer is impossible, because IND asks that my mother needs to be incapable to walk in order to stay for her treatment. This is not the case for her.

Many thanks for your time reading this.  less

Housing in NL is freezing at the moment. Houses are hard to sell, even for average sized house.
But renting in Amsterdam is expensive: you have to pay ~1000 Euro/month for a 50-70 m2 appartment.
