Hi all. I've been in NL for almost 20 years (came here on a six month contract ;-). I got permanant residency many years ago and live in Oegstgeest (near Leiden). Now my work contracts are starting to take me out of NL for long periods and I'm wondering on the effect to my residency status. Next contract is min 6 months in Papua New Guinea, so way out of the EU, and may extend longer, so I'm going to be out of the country for quite a while, but don't want to do anything to compromise my permanant residency status here. Can anyone advise who I should go to to find out the definitive info on this. What government office and where located ? Anyone had any experience in this area ? Dual nationality is theoreticaly an option but I can't speak Dutch and it's unlikely that I will gain proficiency there being away so much so that becomes a no-go from a practical point of view. Any advice greatfully received. Thanks, David.
