What are you planning for queensday?
I just got back to town and I managed to repair my boat engine [it's as old as me and I'm not so young].
I'm quite pleased with myself, but I don't know if I'll take the old girl out into the chaos this year. it's going to be a bit cold they say.

    Is this tax fraud?
    I've come across this a couple of times now;
A website offers a tourist rental or other service in the Netherlands; pay by credit card at the time of booking, print out a voucher.
The payer is not Dutch nor is he/she within the country at the time of payment.
Payment is made to a third country, the US perhaps, or Australia....  more

The tourist presents the voucher and receices value in the Netherlands, but no BTW is charged.
It has to be fraud; but can we say that for sure? Does anyone know?

We don't know if the owner /provider pays income tax on the money, but it's a decent guess he/she does not. If that person is a resident of the country, then that much is obviously clearly tax evasion.  less

After many police call outs, and wasting quite some money on a lawyer who achieved absolutely nothing, We realized there were two possibilities; the first will get you 20 years if they pin it on you. We went for the second option.

My car is old and crappy, but the forgeign plate does call out for trouble.
Most likely I'll put it out in the free zone past sloterdilk station, or in Amsterdam North near the Central station ferry.
Recomendations welcome. I'm even willing to pay a small amount if I could get closer to Westerdok and /or have a little security.

I have no agenda here, I’m not affiliated with any firm.
My friend started a business in Australia, eventually employed about 60 locals full time, was honored as “businesswoman of the year”, and Queen Elizabeth visited her place of business.
But she told me herself that her application would have been rejected if she’d filled it in without help.  less

2; tenants on a houseboat do not have the iron clad Dutch tenants rights.

3; Huurcommissie has no say over houseboat affairs at all. Note that there is huge demand for rentals in the range just above the “social huur” barrier, because of them. Landlords dare not rent these properties because the huurcommise can [for all intents and purposes] nationalize them. But if you buy small houseboats you can safely rent them to happy tenants for 900- 1000 pm. If I had 50 of them, they’d all be full.

It's either propane/butane [gas in bottles] or natural gas [supplied from a pipe network in towns], Ardgas in Dutch. Almost every house /apartment in NL has natural gas.
You'll need to attach the gas supply to your stove; it's not difficult, but gas has to be done right. In the DIY shops, you'll find acordian style stainless steel hose with fittings. that will [usually] fit the gas tap in your kitchen. it should have a rubber or fiber washer in each end. hopefully, the other end will already fit your cooker. If it doesn't, you need an adaptor. Get advice at the shop, or you'll have to hire a hanyman or "instalator".
On the electric end, best is to change the plug. You could use an adaptor [you need a 3 pin one, with earth], but as ovens use quite a bit of power, it's better to cut off the english plug and attach a euro type.
The green/yellow wire goes to the center [safety earth]. the other two [brown and blue] are interchangable...    less
