Yes some think renting is putting money in someone else's pockets BUt something goes wrong? Landlord obliged to repair. As stated by she-who-knows-it-all , dutch laws tend to favour the renter so you are in a strong position and the biggest bonus is freedom. Want to move? give your notice and go. Want to sell? Stick your house on the market and wait for 18months plus to sell. House prices in the Netherlands, as other coutries - are stagnating. But the dutch tend not to sell cheap and would rather keep their house on the market for 2 years than drop the price. Would t...    less

It usually is enough (in helmond anyway) to embarrass them. I did, in Eindhoven one day, get so pissed off by one woman's attitude however that I followed her and deliberately queue jumped her every chance i got, if only to ask a particularly stupid question to the attending cashier/sales clerk. Not big, not clever but worth every smug bit of satisfaction received by every irritated grunt, snort and angry dutch speel from her lips..  less
