Hello everyone,
As of 1st February, my partner and I are going to be working in Luxembourg but living in Germany. We are having problems finding an appartment to rent in the area of Trier which will accept dogs ( we have an 8 year old labrador) therefore, even though we have to start work, we will not have an apartment. We have arranged temporary accomodation for the next three weeks and ideally we would continue to live in a temporary accomodation till the probation period of his contract ends ( 6 months) however, it's become apparent that we need a fixed adresse in order for me to get my german drivers licence and for my partner to buy a car amongst other things.
Would anyone who what the options are for obtaining a ' fixed adresse' without having to sign a rental agreement?
Our options were:
1) Make a rental agreement. This would mean that we would have to pay about EUR 5000 upfront ( 2.38 in commission to rental agent) amongst other upfront costs for something which we might not like just for the sake of an adresse.
2) Live in a holiday home for atleast 3 months but obtaining a fixed adresse via this format is not possible
3)Get a rental agreement for a cheap student housing ( which will be approx 300) per month. We would just use this as an adresse, which I find as an expensive option for a space we won't use.
4) Ask a friend if we can use theirs but we don't know anyone in Germany :)
Can anyone suggest anyother way of obtaining a fixed adresse even if it's just for one or two months?
Thanks!
