I'm not a christian either but having double standards I still enjoy christmas and burning advent candles etc.

I did attend a small outdoor service, to remember those killed in war, in the village/town I live in last Sunday.

Heh people I think Billybob was asking a genuine question and he now has the answers so why be so harsh.
The rememberance services I attend here in Munich include rememberance of all people killed in all wars regardless of nationality.
On what the UK, at least, call rememberance Sunday I attend a German Service at a German Military Ceromony followed by a British Service at a British and Commonwealth Cemetary.
I have no problem every year stopping for 2 minutes on the 11th of the 11th but also have no problemenjoying Carneval but must note it is far more fun in NRW than here in Bayern.

in the topic Durnbach War Cemetery Remembrance Service Enquiry in the forum English in Germany
    (dusty362)
We have received an enquiry through the britishlegion.org.uk web site for information. The person wishes to know if there will be a Remembrance Service at Durnbach War Cemetery. I am clutching at straws in the hope that someone will know if such a Remembrance service is planned. I would like to respond to the client as soon as possible. Any info would be appreciated

Hi Dusty, the simple answer is YES. I have attended the service for the last 3 years and will attend again this year. Generally the service is well attended and beside the UK, military and civilian, other Nations have been present in the last 3 years including Germany, France, Canada and Poland.
Hope this helps but feel free to ask for more info.

Markov, I think its a pity you haven't enjoyed your stay in Germany, however, by the attitude I detect in your writing maybe you didn't want to. Some of what you say is correct but an awful lot isn't and I just wonder how you will find life in London or any other part of the UK. If you can't accept differences in culture then my advice would be "Stay at home".
Maj, by your rant you just give some credence to what Markov says. I know it must be frustrating when someone blasts your country like that but it is not best to blast back at the English and tar them all with the same brush.
Anyway this is my 4th time in Germany and I find by accepting that there are differences I can get on and enjoy being a guest in what for me is a wonderful country.
