hello! i have lived in france for nearly 10 yrs (married 8 yrs to a scot, no kids) and am originally from san francisco. i am blessed to have a stunning house and garden (we had it built in 2002) but due to a number of factors i am a bit alone and would love to make some new friends to hang out with, here or elsewhere. i am a young 53 and am happy to meet people from various age groups, male or female.
my principal limitation is that i have a lot of health problems (long-standing, chronic) that mean i am often in quite a lot of pain and/or fatigue (including 7 major c-spine surgeries). as i have no kids, don't work outside the home, and my husband (63) suffers from depression/anxiety/agoraphobia so he also doesn't work and so we are a bit isolated. also, not surprisingly, it can be hard sometimes for me to manage it all! it would be great to have a bit of a support network and also to either invite people here to enjoy the lovely garden and area or for me to get out a bit for coffee, a bit of shopping, conversation, good humor, or even a doggie get together (i have 2 dogs).
i speak fluent french, have many interests (art, antiques, music, plants, animals, current affairs, collecting, jewelry, books, fashion, translation (esp of poetry), cooking (i teach it at times - specialize in US, french, and italian inc pastry/bread making), etc! despite my health problems etc, i am an upbeat, optimistic person who loves to see the humorous/good/positive side of things. (i am not, however a pollyanna!)
i am also open to chatting by phone...
we do a bit of b&b mostly for the pleasure of meeing nice people (we TRY only to take nice, fun, people!) and pampering them in luxurious lodgings (with, however, that comfortable, casual, relaxed all-american touch!)
