Well, ahh this is a public forum .. so there are no 'experts' here aside from the few lawyers that troll this site .. looking to drum up business.

The rest of us are just here offering advice from our experiences living here. unsure.gif

I think if you continue to pay your health insurance and register at your friends house .. the IND will never know the difference.

But isn't this just common sense?

If you want an 'expert' though .. that means you need to pay someone and skip this forum altogether. tongue.gif

sorry the word 'expert' was in-appropriately selected. intention was just to get some advise.
yes you are right in saying that by registering at friend's house and paying health insurance it should be possible but it probabaly means that lot of money to be paid for insurance, especially if you cannot use it in other country. Just wondering if there is some other option? pls. suggest...

The only way the authorities will know if you leave the country ... is if you tell them by de-registering.

If you know you will be be returning then just keep your address current. You could register yourself at a friends house and have all your mail sent there.

Coming in or out of the country should not be a problem - just show your Dutch perm res card when you enter or leave just as if you live here but are just traveling.

People do this all the time. I wouldn't try to keep this lie going forever as something is bound to give you away but as long as your friend will let you register as if you live with him ... no problem. smile.gif

I think it should be possible to do. But there is one more thing I am not sure about.
In netherlands it is obligatory to have health insurance which means as long as someone is registered here (even at friends address) and living abroad (in eU or even outside EU). Any idea does this create complication? Becuase basically the person will not have any income / job in holland but still might need an insurance here.....any expert knowledge or advise in this regard i.e. how to avoid this hassle?

Ummm I didn't say anything about a 'verblijfsgat'.

    What's that? tongue.gif

I have a somewhat related question,

My understanding / background: with permanent dutch residence card (with EU status as well), I understand that max. 12 months is allowed to be stayed outside EU and if it is within EU it can be couple of years (don't exactly remember how long).

Question is that, how is this executed in practise? for example, if I move from netherlands to the US on my own to take up a job there (and perhaps intention of being back in holland after 12 months if I donot like it there). How do I manage this situation from permanent dutch residence card, registration in city hall, local taxes point of view? Becuase the moment I de-register from city hall, my residence card is gone and I cannot travel back and forth to the netherlands. On the other hand, to keep the residence card and registration with the city hall, I might need a local address (could be a friend or someone?). Is that possible? Kindly suggest possible options to manage this situation....ks

in the topic Shipping to India in the forum Indians in the Netherlands
    Hi,

I am wondering if some of you could share experience in transporting household stuff from netherlands to india? For example, what would it cost for a ~ container load (or less than container load) shipment. How much extra on insurance ? Any idea on what could be the most optimal in terms of costing and safety. Thanks ks,
