Hello folks - i am part of the Expatica team, have lived in Belgium for many years and deal with many of the networks in Belgium. If you look in the events area, you will see that I am constantly setting up meeting opportunities for people to connect. If you want to have a place to meet new people, we also have the Expatica Cafe open now near Montgomery. Do you get the Expatica news letter? This would also help. If you want to be placed on my mailing list for things to do, drop me an email at my personal address which is mychalks@skynet.be and if you need some to chat to about things my GSM number is 0478.482023.

Let me know when you plan to meet and I will make every effort to be there. In the mean time, we have an Expatica Halloween party on Friday 31 October at Autoworld, Parc du Cinquantenaire.
    Cheers Chalks

I sympathise with all of the above but it is all Brussels based, is there anything in Antwerp?

Anyone know of any informal 5 a sides or possibly 11 a side teams who would entertain the idea of involving a non Flemish speaking Englishman of low ability?

    Hi Andy,

I moved to Antwerp four weeks ago for work, still trying to get my head around the fact that nothing opens on a Sunday or past eight o'clock.

I am sort of in the same boat as you so have no idea of where the better places are other than what my bank manager said.

I am up for a beer sometime when you arrive and happy to show you the little I do know to help you get some bearings. My profile is a bit naff at the moment as I can't find out how to alter it.

Hi, I was checking to see if anyone had replied to me but was looking at the wrong bit! I now in Antwerp, have been for nearly a week now. If you still want to catch up for a drink that would be wicked! If you drop me an email Il give you my number. I can only check my emails when at work which is closed over the weekend and I might not go in tomorrow, if I haven caught you it likely Il be in kellys irish bar near the station trying to catch up with the football scores. Ill be the only one swearing when Bristol City conceed! My address is andy_knows@hotmail.com

    Hi Andy!

I'm not actually English but I spent 10 years in the UK and so most people think I'm half English.
One of the best places to meet people in Antwerp is the Irish Times, just off the Grote Markt. They televise EPL games and have live music (usually quite good) on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
Feel free to drop me a line if you like... There is no shortage of pubs in Antwerp. A trendy part of town nowadays in Het Zuid (Southside), about a 1à-minute walk from the Groenplaats. It's easy to get around in Antwerp as it's a lot more compact than Brussels. It would be a good idea to buy a bike as well.

I live just across the city on the Left Bank.

    Good luck!

    Michael

Thanks Michael, that's a fantastic starting point for me. I might well give you a shout when I get over there. I don't know where I'll be living yet, going to try and end up close to where I am working. (a bike is the first thing on my shopping list, well after flat!)
    Andy

    Hello.
I'm moving to Antwerp in a few weeks and literally know nobody. Can anyone offer any suggestions of where the cool kids hang out in Antwerp. Or even better if anyone fancies being a tour guide and my new best friend!
