Query: I have 30% ruling and I am planning to get my DL exchanged. But my driving License is in Hindi. Do I need to get it translated or can I directly apply with same DL? Any other things to be taken case of in such cases?
I applied for the conversion almost 2 months back, and they send two letters saying that they sent my licence to competent authorities for verification purpose. I opted to exchange my Malaysian licence.

As i said be carefull of cyclists and scoter drivers. As summer is coming they drive like maniacs .make sure u add legal service in ur car insurance and if possible add bonus grantie,which means if u r at fault ur no claim years are saved.

You need your 30% tax approval document and your Indian DL.
The Dutch DL can be applied in your City Hall, (There is a special rule that there is no driving test required for knowledge immigrants, and the tax approval document is the proof)
Although they assume that since knowledge immigrants are knowledgable about driving in holland, it is advisable to get some driving lessons, you need to get used to driving on the left side, and also the zillion rules that you have to adhere to, which don't exist in our dear country.
Then again, you can choose not to go for the driving lessons, no big deal, as long as you are happy paying hefty fines and having your dutch DL revoked once in a while
When you apply for the dutch DL, you have to specifically mention that you would like to have the Indian DL returned to you. Else it would be send to the Indian Consulate in Den Haag and once it goes there you can consider it lost for eternity!
I think it costs about 50-60 Euros, and takes about 2 to 3 weeks.

my name is anshul , I am living and working in edinburgh (uk) for last 6 years. m moving to netherlands with my wife she is from Netherlands I am having a india driving licence which was made on 2005 , I was going through yours blogs that an Indian driving licence can be converted to a duch one is it true . I first need to apply for a sprouce visa , within this time i will be appling for jobs in amsterdam after that can i change my dL ? how can i show 30% tax ??? my can u plz help me out ..

Hi Prasamon, I have received similar letter from RDW. Do you know how to get the letter from Embassy?
