Hello...
I have been a knowledge migrant and this week I've got my dutch permanent residence permit and I'm expecting to become dutch citizen in aug-2012. My wife's currect residence permit will expire at the end of Oct-2012.
I have been told that after my becoming dutch citizen, she can apply for her dutch nationality in aug-2012 because we have been married and living together for a little over three years and she has also passed her inburgerings exam but she has to apply for something else also as the nationality process takes a long time whereas her current residence permit will expire during that process.
Should we apply for extension of regular residence permit now?
or
Can she instead apply for her permanent residence permit after my getting nationality (in aug-2012)? Does that three years term of being a partner of dutch citizen is enough only to apply for citizenship or also to apply for permanent residence? Or will it be too late anyway to apply for anything?
Do we have to attach employer's declaration with the applicaiton? My current job contract ends in mid of aug-2012. She does not work and is a house wife. Can my employer's declaration be a problem in her residence permit renewal application?

Yes.

No, she cannot apply for a permanent residence permit after 3 years. However, she can apply to get naturalized (become a Dutch citizen) after you become a Dutch citizen if she has been married to you and living together with you for 3 years. Note, however, that she is required to have a valid residence permit up to the day of her naturalization ceremony-- hence she should still apply for renewal now.
Or will it be too late anyway to apply for anything?

No. She does not need an employer's statement to renew her residence permit. She only needs to sign a statement (included with the application form) stating that neither you nor she is receiving public assistance.

Thank you avocado for answering my questions. That's a lot of relief to know that we don't have to gather all those work related things again.
So basically,
we have to attach only two bijlagen along with the application form?
1. verklaring middelenvereiste
2. fotokaart
and we need to attach only two additional documents with the application?
1. wife's residence permit copy.
2. my new EU permanent residence permit copy.
