New federal legislation passed in 2009 now makes it imperative that U.S. citizens living abroad file a new request for absentee ballots every election year?
If you don't, you may not receive ballots in 2012, even if you voted in 2008 and 2010.
And if your ballot doesn't arrive in time, you may have no recourse. You simply will be deprived of the chance to vote.
So to be sure you can vote in the November 6th Presidential and Congressional Elections, file a new request for absentee ballots now.
The Union of Overseas Voters will be assisting U.S. citizens register to vote the 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month at Shakespeare and Company Bookshop, 37 rue de la Bûcherie, 75005 Paris (Métro Saint-Michel), from 2-5pm.
The Union is a non-partisan, non-profit association governed by American citizens living abroad. We are dedicated to empowering U.S. voters overseas by providing voter registration assistance and promoting civic engagement.
If you haven't registered to vote, or requested your absentee ballots for 2012, don't wait! Do it now!
You can also obtain your voter registration application and absentee ballot request from the Federal Voting Assistance Program at http://fvap.gov
