  Hi all,

   

  Quick question re applying for my permanent residence permit (on basis of relationship with Dutchie- samenwoning only, not married or reg. partnership)- exactly when do they start the clock on your 5 years?  I landed in NL in July 2007, was given a temp 1 year permit, then given a 5 year permit in September 2008.  My current permit shows an expiry date of Sept 2013.

   

  So, do I need to count 5 years from the issuance of this permit, or can I start the 5 years from my arrival date, or from issuance of my first permit?  I meet all the other requirements for perm residency- perm contract at work and meet the min salary, passed my inburgerings exams, have health insurance, have lived here continuously since sept 2007, no criminal record.

  I have the Perm. Res. permit and yes, you are right - the 5 years starts when you received your first residence permit.
  
  It does not matter if you are here for a partner or here for work - you just need the 5 straight years of legal residence.
  
  You should download the application - verblijfsvergunning voor onbepaalde tijd and read it because it will tell you what you must have.
