Hi all,
I am looking for an apartment in The Hague [Thanks to the members in the blog - funda.nl is helpful]. But none of the listing show the provisonal facilities in the apartment, like common Washer/Dryer and refrigerator, microwave in the Apartment. Are these provided only for a furnished apartment? Can any of you clarify.
Thank you

@ouloveit3 - Thanks for the reply. I am looking for an apartment. Comparing it with the one in the US, a washer/dryer is provide inside each apartment if not, alteast one washer & dryer is provided for each apartment complex block. I wondering if it was the same in the Netherlands.
Ohhh I am from the US too. You are bound to ber very, very dissappounted with the rental housing situation if this is your point of the comparison.
Rental housing Europe in general (I have friends all over) is a dismal comparison in fact.
In rentals appliances like Washer/dryers etc is not provided in the apartments or in a shared space.
In fact, you often don't even get lighting frixtures, flooring etc in your apartment - no kidding,
You can add me to your list of FRIENDS and then send me a PM and I will explain the whole thinf to you.

Hi, aravk,
I recommend not generalizing in terms of what would and would not be available.
Usually, if "provisional facilities" are not listed, they are not in place. However, microwave is not something every rental agency would list separately, if it is removable.
Driers are not that common. If the place is furnished it is almost certain it has a washing machine.
For every apartment that you like, first go on a website of the rental agency itself, and then - give them a call.
In 10 years here I lived in 9 different apartments and provisional facilities ranged the following way:
- all kitchen and white appliances plus carpet and curtains, nothing else
(no microwave, because it is removable)
- all kitchen appliances but no washing machine
- all kitchen + washer/dryer + carper,curtains
- absolutely nothing, i.e. no kitchen, carpet, curtains and appliances of any kind.
- fully furnished (move in with your bag and nothing else)
In Dutch they usually mention "kaal" - that's the completely empty without carpets or curtains option, "gestoffeerd" - only carpets and curtains and "gemeubleerd" - furnished. The latter two are definitely worth inquiring about, since gestofferd might mean a kitchen in place or it might not; and gemeubleerd might mean all the furniture you need or it might be a bed, table but no closets..
Good luck!

@monkeynuts: Thanks for the input. So unfurnished place is just the space with roof over head and seperation walls, if any. Ok, I will follow the dictionary from now on...'unfurnished'. @ouloveit3: Nice to know a person from the US, I will send you a PM request in a moment. About the appliences, are there any public laundry marts/rental places?
I agree with previous poster - don't assume, just call the agency and ask them.
For example, we rented out our apparment with complete kitchen (dishwasher, fridge, microvawe, oven), curtains, flooring and washing machine, BUT no furniture and NO light fixtures.
Unfurnished can mean a lot of things.
