Due to my tough family situation I have decided to stop naturalisation process. I applied in June, but I have not received a positive advise from the IND yet. The last time I called( 3 weeks ago) they said it's still in process.
My question is to anyone who has ever done this before. I would be applying for an Independent Permit(this is my 4th year in NL) or get Skilled migrant visa through my work.
Will my stopping the process influence IND decision to grant me either of the Visas I plan to apply for?
Would this also have a negative impact in I decide to apply for citizenship in future?
Thanks
Why don't you just call them again .. and ask them these questions?
@Biteme : we are in the same situation! if you would like to have someone to talk to, please send me message. I have been through some serious stress and depression because of this and though we can give each other some supports!
@Avocado : Biteme and myself are two different person :) But thank you very much for your answer as it answer my question as well.

If I may add to the discussion. I would certainly go with Avocado and check if the law of your current nationality AUTOMATICALLY leads to loss of nationality when you obtain another nationality. To name just two examples, China and Japan have this rule. If you want to stop the process, send the IND a letter by registered mail (and to the correct Postbox since there are many now and they are all in the town of Almelo). To do smething final and important as stopping a naturalization application you should not use the phone, it's unreliable.
Hello Avocado, meesters, and all
At this moment I am still unsure if I would sacrifice my current nationality (I checked and I will automatically loose my current nationality once I got other nationality). So I think I need more time to think. How about this scenario: asking the ceremony to be postponed whilst applying for a permanent residence (lived here for more than 6 years). I think this will give more certainty in order to make a such a big decision in my life. If at the end I will stop the process or natiralisation, at least i will have permanent residence anyhow. What do you think? Thank you
Well, that's what I did.
I am from The States so I would have had to give up my US passport if I had applied for a Dutch passport.
So I got the Permanent Residence permit which gives me all rights that a Dutch citzren would have - except I cannot vote in the major elections. I can vote in the local elections though. Conversely, I cannot vote in The US local elections but I can vote for the major Presidential election every 4 years. :)
So sure, call them and ask how you can stop the Naturalization process. You are not the only one in this position. A lot people risk losing their home naturalization when they get the Dutch passport - so your story will not be unusal.
Ask them what form or where do you have to go to stop the Dutch passport.
Then apply for the Permanent Residence permit and then later if you decide you want the Dutch passport .. I believe you will have to reapply and pay all over again.
No, I don't think they will put your passport on hold until one day in the future when you want it. Costs. If they have already processed your passport paperwork .. then they have already spent your money. So the 800 is gone.
But if you have choice between LOSING your home passport forever and losing 800 - then lose the 800. You can earn back 800 euros but you won't be able to get back you home passport.
