Hi
I am beginning to thing that the syntax and grammar of the German language is a lot more difficult for kids to grasp than my native English. My (almost) 7 year old boy Wolfie is a clever guy, but he continually seems to stop mid sentence and have to back-track to correct because of sentence reordering - especiialy pushing the verb to the end with warum and weil. And I don't think he is confused by knowing a bit of English - as he hasn't really progressed as much in English as I would have hoped for. I don't remember seeing this in the language development of English speaking kids. And I see it in other German kids as well.
Is this normal? Or is the language more of a challenge to pick up even for natives?
