I know this thread is a bit old, but what the heck, I thought I'd chime in with my own gas cannister refill tips. :)
I use BP's handy-dandy refill finder to find the place that's closest: http://www.bpgas.co.uk/lpg-finder/#bottlestockist
Don't be thrown off by the map of the UK - if you type in Amsterdam (for instance), stockists within 10 km’s appear on the map. Scroll down to see the list of places displayed as well (sometimes easier than working the map, I find).
If you're without access to a car (I've carried plenty of weird & wonderful things on the back, front and sides of my bike over the years, but haven't yet tried a full tank of gas yet....), BP also has a home delivery service. Now, don't get too excited - it isn't exactly next-day service ("within 2 weeks"), but desperate times call for desperate measures - a near-empty BBQ tank certainly being one of those times.
Unfortunately, they only drop off so you'll have to figure out how to get your empty tank back to a retailer to get your €55 deposit back (don't forget to take that little certificate you received in the mail ages ago when you first registered....). But empty, these plastic containers hardly weigh anything, so no big deal, right?

At the time of writing, the price for the 10Kg tank is €100 (including deposit, fuel and delivery).
