Hey'all,
(first of all I'm a tad confused about whether this post should be here or in 'Groups & Clubs in the Netherlands'. Decided to place it here eventually as the other appears to be meant for more permanent groups while mine's more of an impromptu thingie. Mods, please feel free to move my post over if you find it more appropriate.)
K. Now back to business! I was wondering if there's anyone out there like me who's got nothing better to do this X'mas eve aside from humming X'mas carols to myself while chomping down my microwave dinner.....anyone who's feeling a bit adventurous yet don't wanna hit the clubs alone. I am hoping we can make some last minute arrangements for a party night, say in Den Haag (where I live), Amsterdam or any other city as long as there's a good train connection after midnight so I've got a way to get home. If there are more than 3 interested parties, the party is on! Any less than 3 I figure it'll be awkward so then I'll probably scrap the plan (unless you can convince me you're the most charming person on the planet and can guarantee me a X'mas night to remember hehe)
Obviously if there's already such a party in the making that I'm unaware of I'll be happy to consider crashing one of your parties. I'd like to think I'm rather good company (most of the time :P)
A bit about myself so you guys'll have a better idea what y'all are getting yourselves into:
I'm a new member at this forum but not exactly new in Dutchieland. Been here more than 5 years and currently reside in Den Haag.
Years ago, while I still lived in my home country I was quite the party animal. I had friends all over the place and no week goes by without me and my pals hitting the clubs in the weekends, if not weekdays too. As with all excesses in life, it got a bit too much for me.
After moving to the Netherlands, I kinda made a conscious choice and opted for a completely opposite lifestyle to what I was used to. There's been barely any booze, few lasting contacts, and my new circle of friends here in Holland, none has any interest in the clubbing scene. In case you're mistaken, I ain't whining about my situation. In fact, I really enjoy the solitude, peace and quiet that also brings with it plenty of freedom and personal space that I need.
That said, on occasion my feet starts getting a little itchy, the wild party animal that I've put to sleep tugs at me to be let loose for a night. Unfortunately, thanks to myself I now have no one around me I can drag to a party without them pulling a long face. I don't fancy hitting the clubs solo either. Unlike activities like hitting the gym, shopping or backpacking solo which I'll do in a heartbeat, "party" just don't feel right when you do it alone.
Since I have no family here in Dutchieland, plus after I ended my last serious relationship a few years ago, there has been no family dinners for me to attend during X'mas/New Year time. I was quite content spending my past few X'mases alone but this year I just felt like it'll be fun to try something different for a change.
So. There ya go. Anyone still up for a night out with silly me? :D
As for the details....
I don't really have any gender or age preferences. Well.... you have to be at least at a legal drinking age course! Well let's just give a rough number... say between 18 - 45? I only put 45 because I doubt any over 45'ers would still be interested in hitting a club. But hey, if you're young at heart and can't wait to rock your *** off, you're more than welcome.
As for what form the party should take? Ideally I'd like to be able to hit one of the popular clubs at some point for a lil drinkin' & dancin' since I'm ashamed to say in all my years of living in Holland I've never once visited a proper club.... well... perhaps just once in Den Haag... but it's really more to watch a live band perform than anything else.
If that's not possible because of whatever reasons... say if it's gonna be too crowded on X'mas eve, I'm not averse to saving clubbing for a rainy day.... and instead, simply make a reservation for a table or two at some restaurant so we can have some dinner and break the ice before heading off to a pub for some beer and c*cktails. We can even go pub hopping if that's what we all fancy. I'm rather open to suggestions here. The cost will be split of course but that can always be discussed later if there's really enough folks interested.
