The majority of people’s first contacts with anything to do with Portugal get their first impressions either through the Algarve, Football or Lisbon because it is one of the cheapest holiday destinations in Europe
Portugal does however have another side that little is known about outside the country. The North of Portugal and Galicia in Spain have many cultural similarities and economic links and because of this close association, and other cross border developing events, the north of Portugal/Galicia (The Alto Minho Region) is becoming a popular holiday destination for the more sophisticated traveller and a place for future Expats considering retirement.
Remember unless you have won the lottery where money is no object any future retirement or relocation destination will mean making some serious compromises a long the way, the Alto Minho Community region however ticks most of the “plus” boxes
