I have a prepaid mobile phone with a T-Mobile SIM (from NL).
On a trip to Belgium recently, I was not able to connect to email/internet. I rang T-Mobile here in NL who told me that for Prepaid customers it is no longer possible to use online services abroad. This, they say, is because EU legislation prohibits such use. This, so my T-Mobile customer service rep told me, is for the benefit of the customer. I struggle to believe anything they said.
As far as I'm aware no such legislation exists. T-Mobile even advertise an International SIM on their website, and this, to the best of my knowledge, is what I already have.
Regardless, how then can I get access to email/internet via my Pre-paid phone when I'm abroad?
Do I just need to buy one of the many prepaid International SIMS that are advertised in the backs of magazines, in newsagents' windows, and on the cards handed out on the streets by hard-up students?
Another trip away is planned in a few weeks, so it would be really helpful if I could get your advice on what needs to be done.
