Hi, can anyone help? I am a freelance journalist. I write mainly for one publication, but I am not salaried or under contract. When I first arrived, I was told to register with URSAFF, which I did. The problem is that I spoke no French, and still don't speak enough to ask questions. I've been to accountants for advice, but I still don't understand the thing with the different places to pay to: URSAFF, Maison des artistes and I can't remember the other.
The problem that I was told I have is that as a journalist the companies that commission me should be responsible for paying whatever the URSAFF contribution is, but they don't, I don't think I can join Maison des artistes because it is for writers and I was told that because I don't write books I am not a writer. I think at the moment I am a consultant, so I'm paying URSAFF, but aparently it is the most expensive, could anyone help? Could anyone explain what URSAFF is also? Is it social charges
Any help would be much appreciated. I'm very confused!
