  Hi,
  
  My name is Marcia,and I am from Cork. I am working in London at the moment as an acocunt manager/sales exec and I am now looking to fulfill my dream of living in France.
  
  I am planning to move to Bordeaux end of May beginning of June. I would gratefully appreciate any advice on where to start.... It would be great if you could give me advice on where to look to rent a place, and what the score is on the job market. I have intermediate level french, so I am looking to work in a cafe, restaurant, bar or shop for a while so I can build up my french, and then see what happens.

  We're only here since June last year, and loving it..! We started looking for a place on the net, but ended up making a couple of trips, and just dealing with agents in person. Finally decided on a place, just to get a base, but now we're very happy where we are..! We're about an hour from Bordeaux. I think you'd have a better chance of gaining employment in a city, as it's hard in the more rural areas according to everyone I've spoken to. There's the Irish bar in Bordeaux, The Connemara...! Plus the cheap flights with Aer Lingus...! I think you'll be fine. Hope I've been a little help, but hopefully someone with more experience will reply too.

  Also, a while back someone had a post looking for a flatmate in Bordeaux..
  It might still be here, somewhere...!

  Hi Marcia,
  I am also Irish and moving to Bordeaux shortly. Have you made the move? Have you found a job? I speak fluent French and work as a Translator so I hope I wont have too much trouble finding a job but I would appreciate any info on where to look for an apartment (and areas to avoid). Also, just in case you don't know, I figured out a very cheap way to get from Bordeaux to Cork (TGV to Paris and Aer Lingus from Paris to Cork. Total is under 200).

  Hi everyone,
  
  I'm Irish and living in Bordeaux since May 2009. I'm living here with my French 'conjoint' but work from home, so climbing the bloody walls at times! Love to hear from any other Irish in the vicinity!
