  Hello everyone!!
  
  The weekend is here again, so let's pray for some good weather!!
  
  Anyway, just purely as an interesting list, I am going to tell you all who my ten favourite actors [both living and dead] are.
  
  1. Johnny Depp
  
  2. Robert de Niro
  
  3.Marlon Brando
  
  4. Kiefer Sutherland [I love 24!!]
  
  5. Sean Connery
  
  6. Jack Nicholson
  
  7. Michael Gambon
  
  8.Peter O' Toole
  
  9. Paul Newman
  
  10. Vincent Price [What a scarey voice!!!]

  Agree with some of your list..Jack Nicolosn & Robert de Niro being two of my favourites. I would also add Morgan Freeman, Alan Alda and Robert Redford (some of his earlier films were so good) and although not an actor in the real sense - Gary Shandling - who is brilliant as the talk show host ''Larry Sanders''. Sidney Poitier is also wonderful. I would also have to cheat and add Robert Altman as one of the all time best directers.

  I agree with all the above! However, since there are thousands of excellent film actors, I want to name 10 of my favourites. Only ten mind you, because I could easily name hundred!

  How could I have forgotten Al Pacino?
  I think [on reflection] I really should substitute Al Pacino for Vincent Price. Great though he is, I really could not see Mr Price gunning down hords of gangsters and effing and blinding in quite the way Pacino did in 'Scarface.'
  Or maybe we could make it a top eleven instead?

  Alphonso???? Alfredo? (looked up on Google and it seems to be Alfredo). Alan Pacino doesn't really have that ring to it.

  after all the trouble I have been causing with my other thread [English or German] I feel like I should keep my head down for a bit and stay on less contreversial topics!
  Yes, it was in fact Alfredo and not Alan [or even Albert]. I love his movies, he is truly a brilliant actor.
  Robert Redford I have always found a bit boring I have to say, or, perhaps not his acting so much, but the films he has been in. I love Paul Newman, but I couldn't stand 'The Sting' [it is one of those movies where if you lose the thread, then you lose the whole plot..like Usual Suspects and Sixth Sense if you know what I mean?]. The Great Gatsby was another Redford film I didn't like very much. But this is only my opinion and what is good for the goose is not for the gander as they say.

  Hi Les,
  Your list is spot on, although I would have to add Gary Oldman, maybe in place of Sean Connery. Or else we can have a Top 11 After seeing him in "State of Grace" (which is a *brilliant* Irish 'mafia' movie set in New York, with Sean Penn and Ed Harris also), I don't think acting can get much better! He now appears in Harry Potter, playing the Prisoner of Azkaban.
  
  I also like Ryan Phillippe, but not so much for his acting. Just because I think he's the sexiest thing ever to grace the Silver Screen

  8. carey grant 
  9. james garner 
  10. harrison ford

  i can think of several movies for each that just melt my heart every time

  along with 2 honorable mentions for supporting actors/vs leading men:
