Well, I have recently recieved my Inburgeringtoets results (Centrale and Praktijk) and I have passed both.
Feel free to ask questions which you can't find answers for at www.inburgeren.nl (and you can find a lot of info there...).

NINE HOURS worth of exams???![]()
My lord, that's brutal! The profieltoets used to be four tests, one hour each (I think), plus the MO toets of another hour...one test per day.
Ah, the good old days...?![]()
Where did you take your lessons? I've never heard of Klare Taal...

Klare Taal is just a book :
http://www.bol.com/nl/p/boeken/klare-taal-...OO0020083136bns
And regarding the 9 hours - well it goes like this:
The central exam takes you "1 full day" according to the IB group which is comprised of 3 tests - each taking about 1 hour. The problem of course that the is some layover time between the tests so the reality is that you arrive at the IB group at say 09:30 and you leave at 15:30.
Quite a long boring day.
And as far as the praktijkexam goes - you have a few options:
1. you can collect evidence of (Bewijzen Verzamelen) which is what most people do for contact with the Gemeente, employers, doctors - you need to make a report in Dutch of every such case (so let's say you go to the Gemeente to get a new drivers license - you need to make a report and alos have the gemeente clerk fill a report which gives an overview of how the meeting went). You need to collect 30 (Thirty) reports and file them in one protfolio.
2. The quick (and expensive option which costs about 450 Euros) - you have 6 x 1 hour exams which simulate a job interview, a meeting at the Gemeente etc... it's oral, written, reading, telephone conversations etc... you must pass all 6 exams.
3. A combination of the above so 15 reports + 3 x 1 hour exams
I went for option #2.
That's the story in a nutshell.

I knew Klare Taal was a book, lol...I just wondered what school used it, as it was a new title from my experience.
I've heard about this new test...I still can't imagine how one would be able to find 15, let alone 30 people willing to fill out reports...or 30 separate situations. I think, if I had the money, I'd opt for #2 as well...

If you're enrolled in the inburgeringscursis, I recommend you skip the ridiculous portfolio and go for the 6 assessments. I sat for it recently and got it done in less than 30 minutes (I was given 3 hours).
The written parts were an insult to your intelligence and they're not that strict about the speech (grammatical mistakes are fine..just as long they can understand you).
I can't remember everything but there were 2-4 parts in each assessment.
Assessment 1
Make a police report about a break-in
a. Role-play (me: victim, examiner: policeman)
b. Fill out police report
Assessment 2
Another police report (stolen bicycle)
a. Read text and answer questions
b. Fill in police report
Assessment 3
a. Read and answer questions about an energy bill
b. Write down 2 questions I want to ask the company's customer representative
c. Call to state displeasure regarding the bill and ask the 2 questions
Assessment 4
a. Read and answer questions ( position as zorghulp)
b. Write down 2 questions I want to ask regarding said position
c. Call to express interest in the position and ask questions
Assessment 5
In this assessment, I am a truck driver
a. 3 x role play (one with boss, one with HR and one with ARBO-dienst)
b. reading some brochures regarding arbo dienst
Assessment 6
a. Fill in Acceptgiro
I can't remember the rest. I had to pay for something. Probably ncluded more reading and answering questions.
(There were 6 assessments so the ones below might have been part of one of the above)
a. I am a mailroom employee. I have to leave early because of urgent business. I have to tell my colleague that I have to leave and that I need him to complete some of my tasks.
b. Write a note asking colleague to order 3 things (x 10)from some pictures.
c. Read a work contract. Answer questions regarding hours I need to work, what kind of contract I have etc. Write down 2 questions which I have to ask HR (role play).

In the exam room there are three or four people - you, the examiner and 1 or 2 assessors (they don't talk - they just take notes).
The exam is basically a role play - you apply for a job - so you 1st have to read the job offer in a newspaper ad. You answer some questions in writing and then call the contact person (the examiner) - talk on the phone about the job and answer and ask questions about the job, then you have to fill forms for the job and write a small introduction letter. Then you meet the new boss. Then you get to read a letter about how to do your job and you need to answer question both orally and in writing about the job. And then you have to call in sick. and Then fill a sickness form.
There are 6 exams like this with different subjects.
3. A combination of the above so 15 reports + 3 x 1 hour exams
I went for option #2.

I'm reasonably confident I can pass the NT2, or whatever the equiv now is, but it's the inbuggering, going over what diensten to go to for what, that I have little idea about.
canuckywoman (Mar 25 2009, 12:35 PM) said: > original post
You'd probably pass the Korte Vrijstellingstoets then. That would be good enough.
If they aren't sending you official letters demanding that you show up for an intake, stay under the wire, and just find a test to do, either KV or staatsexamen...You've finished your inbuggering obligation under the old rules just by showing up and doing the profieltoets, but convincing those quota-hungry bureaucrats is an uphill battle.

Yes, and that's what worried me *shiver*
I haven't gotten any letters.
I think a reminder a while back, but nothing saying im going to be put on a plane any time soon.
I don't know.
I've asked my wife to find this information out as the gemeente can be prick-ish about giving information in english, and I don't have the time - being at work.

Meh...don't give those guys any more power than necessary. All you want to do is prove enough fluency to get citizenship, and they'll leave you alone.
Just research the tests, take one and flash the results in their faces if they give you grief, that's all. No need for the wife to talk to the gemeente, and it's a waste of time because they don't know a damned thing.

Mister Dutch is one of the schools currently doing the assessments. I chose to do the assessments for 350 euros (not the ridiculous portfolio). I read here that 6 assessments were required, but it is now only 4.
Has anyone already done the 4 assessments lately? Would like to know if you passed and what your experience was like. Also, do you find out right away, or is it like the KNS (and etc) exams where they make you wait 2 tortuous weeks before you know? I passed all these exams by the way. I found them quite easy.
A warning to all, don't bother taking the kortevrijstelling toets. Its a 80 euro scam. I failed that one and so did a few other people I talked to. The regular exams are much more fair and dont have nearly as many of the ridiculous questions found in the KVT exam.
