I'm British and currently live in Eindhoven. My employer will likely require me to relocate to Ghent, or leave the company, in the near future. Can anyone provide any information about the expat community in Ghent, and any meet ups, activities, etc that take place? I've tried searching online without much success.
Contrary to what I expected, Eindhoven is a lot of fun as a place to live, with a large and active expat community - see http://meetup.thehubeindhoven.nl/ for an idea of what happens here. It's a very easy place to make friends and build a good social life. The lack of something similar in Ghent would be a major deterrent to making the move.
On another topic, is anything similar to the Dutch tax "30% rule" in Belgium? Without it, I may also be looking at a substantial pay cut...
