I haven't posted on this site for quite some time now [I guess I got a bit tired of my constant moaning, like many others], but something happened to me earlier today which kind of encapsualtes those precious Dutch qualities of refusing to take responsibility for anything that is their fault, and trying to pass the buck.
allow me to enlighten you:
About 2 weeks ago I had a small operation which required stitches.Nothing serious I hasten to add. Anyhow, these stitches were due to be removed this coming Friday, and til yesterday night/very early this morning, there wasn't a problem.
However, I noticed as I was dressing this morning that the stitches had come loose, and now there was a gaping sticky hole in my right upper arm.
Wanting to avoid infection and wotnot, I headed back to the hospital first thing this morning. Without even examining me, Spoedhulp sent me back to the Dermatology dept [who were the ones who 'stitched me up' in the first place], saying I should go back to where it happened/was caused.
The doctor who 'stitched me up' was eventually on hand to claim that I must have been playing squash or have undertaken some similar strenuous activity to have caused this. Not the slightest hint of an apology whatsoever [no surprises there folks!] To cut a long story short, I will now have a somewhat serious scar, and have to be very careful not to reopen my wound over the coming weeks. They truly 'pak de koekje' folks..they really do!!!
