Hello!
Does anyone know if there is a council department that regulates and monitors rented properties? Surely there must be some rules and obligations that owners need to comply with in order to obtain a permit to rent out property.
I rent a flat at a rather expensive appartment building in The Hague near the central station. Property maintenance has deteriorated dramatically in recent months. Coupled with very poor construction, after 18 months of moving in, all kinds of problems have surfaced, some posing serious HSE risks.
The response from the management agency to reporting problems is both rude and unaccommodating without exception (that is when they do not ignore me completely). I have managed to deal with the problems so far and chase the agency to own up to responsibilities but I am reaching the end of my patience with the overall condition of the flat and seriously considering to move out.
I feel however, that I should not be the only one that puts up with the hassle of moving and picks up the cost of this as well. And I would also like this to be a warning to protect future tennants.
So, any reference to a formal channel of complains is much appreciated!
