And why do those isolated cases proof? If you read reviews on airlinequality.com, you can read good and bad things about all airlines and airports. In general BA does better then KLM, but on the other hand the Dutch airports do better then the British ones. Not to mention that there are lots of complaints about the rudeness of British immigration.

Still you didn't answer the more important question: Is charging for overweight a typical Dutch thing?
pepec (Jan 26 2011, 02:35 PM) said: > original post
Charging people for overweight is nor rudeness. Every airline has simple easy to understand rules. And most of the times these rules are enforced, everywhere at all airports all over the world.

No, she only claimed that people were in tears at Schiphol, she said nothing about the behavior of ground handlers.

If you browse the various airport/airline forums you can read plenty of evidence of the opposite. Of course I am not denying that these things happen, but the opposite also happens lots of times.

I agree, and I've been always treated like that at Schiphol. Nice friendly people, very helpful. But I encounter nice friendly people most of the time, wherever I go. Not just here, but everywhere.

Sorry Wes this has nothing to do with home improvements but customer service ... I don’t know how you are still walking around and functioning – this crap you have had to put up with would crush most people, but one does wonder why there are so many rubbish workmen.

Everything about Atlanta airport is hellish from beginning to end (and I need to fly from there again in March..only on the way back thankfully..but meh). Snappy staff, horrible layout, endless security checks. Oh I lie, it has a bitchin' TGI Friday's in there - they do awesome steaks. ;D
Schiphol wins for uppity jobsworths though. Even before I lived here, I always felt Schiphol had some rude buggers.
