The Prado Museum presents this exhibition featuring one of the pioneering artists in the introduction of realistic landscape painting in Spain, as part of its programme to recover the great masters of Spanish 19th-century painting.
The Prado Museum has the largest and finest collection of works by this Madrid-born artist, including a total of twelve oil paintings, forty sketchbooks and one book of watercolours.
Visitors can take a journey through all the periods of his career, from his beginnings in the mountains near Madrid through to the paintings he produced in Venice and Paris, and with works from institutional and private collections in various countries.
