The Vocal Ensemble is a 20-30 voice auditioned chamber ensemble. Vocal Ensemble is mainly comprised of students in the Music Major program to continue their studies in vocal music. This auditioned ensemble presents two choral programs per academic year featuring core repertory works from a wide variety of time periods, styles, and genres. In addition, Vocal Ensemble participates in the annual major works performance in collaboration with the Moorpark College Symphony Orchestra. Under the new direction of Professor Brandon Elliott, this current tour of Spain is their first international choral tour.
Choral & Vocal Program
The Choral and Vocal program at Moorpark College offers a diverse selection of courses and performance opportunities to train both the amateur eager to learn new skills, and the next generation of professional vocal musicians.
Students in the Music Major program have the opportunity to thrive in a cross-collaborative environment by participating in large-scale choral-orchestral masterworks, small ensembles, vocal techniques classes, individual applied instruction, and classroom learning.
Students in the Choral and Vocal program learn from accomplished and award-winning faculty, staff, as well as their fellow colleagues. Upon successful completion of the Associate of Arts (A.A.) in Music, many of our students have transferred to continue their advanced studies in music at renowned schools and conservatories across the country, to include: CSU Northridge, CSU Fullerton, CSU Long Beach, Oberlin Conservatory, Cleveland Institute of Music, Florida State University, UCLA, USC, UC Santa Barbara, California Lutheran University.
With a "students first" philosophy, Moorpark College empowers its diverse community of learners to complete their goals for academic transfer, basic skills, and career technical education. Moorpark College integrates instruction and student services, collaborates with industry and educational partners, and promotes a global perspective.
